Do you go to shows alone?

Last night instead of seeing a band I'd been waiting to hear for months, I sat at home watching a DVR'd Mad Men episode.  My go-to concert company was all out of town (you know, the one or two kindred souls who are always there to lend an ear when you need someone to listen to a band with).  After a rather long day at work, the thought of spending time by myself at a concert felt unpleasant, so I just didn't go.

I know I'm not alone. Or maybe I am?  Or maybe this is what will keep me from a career in real music journalism: the inability to divorce my overall enjoyment from the concert-going experience.  It kept me from the venue side once already.

Thoughts?  Do you go to shows alone?  Do you like it? Or is this proof that I'm not a tried and true fan...

  1. It really depends. Some shows I absolutely can't miss, and as a college student I usually can't find people willing to drop the dough to come with me, so I'm used to going alone at this point. You know, especially if you're a big fan of the band, you end up meeting people. Like, I've met so many people waiting in the queue for Muse concerts. And I did Lolla alone this year. It's really not that bad.
