Welcome to Vinyl

It was one of our co-editors birthdays yesterday, and in honor of such an occasion, we ushered him into audiophile-dom with a brand new Audio Technica turntable.  And a trip to Melody Records in Dupont Circle, where we spent more than the price of the player on records alone.

I personally prefer to think of the purchase not as pretentious, but playful, a nostalgic return to the player of our parents' choice.

Where can we get a good record player stand?  What do we need to know about entering this new phase of music appreciation?  Where is the best place in DC to get a record?
