Did you hear about... The Wealthy West

"If you like artists/bands like Avett Brothers, Frightened Rabbit, Mumford and Sons or Glen Phillips you're going to love The Wealthy West."

Every once in awhile we get an email from a publicist that contains something ear catching, and this description not only caught ours, but wasn't far off (and ICYMI on NPR yesterday, publicist emails can be, well, interesting). The Wealthy West, a one man show named Brandon Kinder from Austin, recently release an EP and it's definitely worth checking out.  Especially given the buzz and blow-up of Mumford & Sons and the Avetts, The Wealthy West is a fruit ripe for picking.  Catchy music, thoughtful & ironic lyrics ("tales of bad choices, long roads, longing for home and the banality of love"), and a generally ear pleasing voice... what's not to like?  The future success of this band will rely on the quality of songwriting, but so far, so good!

Kinder is also known as the frontman for Austin-based band The Rocketboys, of which former members include Philip Ellis, creator of P. Ellis Drums (thanks internet for making me feel like I should know who that is). Their songs have been featured on TV as well, specifically MTV (more specifically, Real World DC, how fitting).

In short: check out The Wealthy West and keep your ear to the ground, this ship should take off.  And keep your fingers crossed for a tour date. The standout from the EP is below, but feel free to find more on their FB page**
